Phrike

Horror is a daimon appearing only in Seneca's Oedipus. They are not personified elsewhere, but their presence in a list of other Greek daimones supports that their personification is taken from Ancient Greek sources.

Etymology

Horror literally means shaking, trembling, and the feeling of horror. This meaning is shared by the word φρίκη (phríkē), which is used often in Ancient Greek tragedy.

In popular culture

The PlayStation 5 game Returnal features Phrike as the first boss.
